Do You Have A Minute? Podcast Appearance

Do You Have A Minute?

A few weeks ago, my friend Allison (a therapist) and her co-hosting friend Lacie asked me to be a guest on their new podcast, Do You Have A Minute?. It was after Allison saw I posted something about my own experience with Postpartum Depression to Instagram, that she immediately asked if I would be a guest to share more with their listeners. It took me a few days to say yes (because, hello, fears) but ultimately I decided to do it, because: the issues of PPD, and our need to talk more about it, go far beyond my own fears or experience. And it's SO common. *Although common doesn't mean it's okay! The episode went live today.

We packed SO MUCH into the episode.

Along with my story, we covered:

  • Onset, duration, symptoms
  • The differences between experiencing typical challenges of motherhood and what may be a more serious problem
  • Knowing when to seek professional help
  • Prevention
  • How to help someone who may be experiencing PPD
  • Resources
  • And a Hey Weegs coupon code just for podcast listeners :)

Cards for Parents and Sucky Situations

I know it's not always easy to find the right words when someone's struggling. I'll admit there have been times I've kept quiet out of fear for saying the wrong thing to someone going through a thing. But as I've learned, hearing a simple, "I'm so sorry you're going through this," or even "I don't know what to say," can mean the world, over saying or hearing nothing at all.

That's why I've created certain cards at Hey Weegs – cards that give people something TO say when someone they love is going through a thing. They're also the cards I wish I'd received while going through PPD, either to find a needed laugh or just be seen by someone I know and who cares.

The best part is: You don't need a special occasion for any of these. There's no need to wait on sending them. Just stock up so you have them when the time is right; when someone needs a laugh or a check-in (and they will!), so you'll be ready.

CARDS FOR PARENTING and CARDS FOR SUCKY SITUATIONS

If you or someone you know might be going through PPD and/or Anxiety, have a listen. Then please, share the podcast link.

Here's the link one more time.

Thanks for listening,

Sarah Weeger
